This border shows two styles of garden that can be shared with nature, one shady and the other dry, sunny and drought tolerant. Shade is created by small trees that also provide food and habitat for birds and insects. This is underplanted with ferns and shade-loving plants, giving ground cover for invertebrates which in turn supply food for birds and small mammals.
